Camden Hills band earns Gold
Scarborough — On April 8, the Camden Hills Regional High School Concert Band, under the direction of Nancy Rowe, participated in the Maine Band Directors Association Concert Band Festival at Scarborough High School. Twenty-six bands from Maine participated in the festival.
Adjudicators were University of New Hampshire professor Andrew Boyson, a nationally known composer of music for wind band; Heidi Miller, Artist in Residence in Winds and director of William College’s Wind Ensemble; James P. Miller, assistant professor and director of Wind Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and Terry White, music educator, composer, arranger and band leader in Portland for more than 34 years.
The CHRHS Band earned a Gold rating, meaning that they exceeded the standards of musical performance and that the performance was outstanding in nearly every aspect and detail. The group earned high ranks for “musical effect” and a perfect score for programming/presentation.
