Camden Area District Nursing Serves Four Towns

By Camden Area District Nursing Association | Apr 11, 2012

Since 1920 the Camden Area District Nursing Association has been offering home nursing visits to adult patients in the towns of Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville and Hope and sponsoring low-cost health clinics in the same towns.  At this point the staff consists of Director Ann Feeney, RN, MSN, and Judi Lydon, RN, plus per diem registered nurses Fran Sims, Barbara Forti, Pauline Wilder and Roe Chiacchio.

Referrals may be made by physicians, health agencies, family, friends or the patients themselves, and in each case the agency works under orders signed by the patient's physician.  Services include bathing, blood pressure readings, injections, foot care, instruction for self-care and home-administered medications, pre-pouring of medications and assistance with referrals to other agencies when needed.  The home visits often enables those who are elderly or chronically ill to remain safely at home with the monitoring and support of the District Nurses.

Generally the nurses see their patients once or twice a week, with the exception of foot care that in most cases is done every eight weeks or so.  The agency has never been affiliated with medicare or any insurances, and requests a donation of $25 for each home visit, with adjustment made according to ability to pay.  Contributions from the community fund the 501(c)3 organization.

The District Nursing Office is located at Quarry Hill.  Please call 230-6272 for additional information
