Rockland Public Library circulates a number of graphic novels and will host a CWC series to create one.

Rockland — The Rockland Public Library Children's Writing Club (CWC) will host a special graphic novel creation series Mondays, May 19 through June 23 (excluding Memorial Day) from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the library, 80 Union St. Space is limited to the first 15 who pre-register by calling the library at 594-0310 or emailing Janet Corcoran at rocklandcwc@gmail.com.

The series is run in cooperation with Chelsea Avirett of Spyglass Tutoring. Youth age 11 to 15 will work on developing their own graphic novels or comics, in addition to contributing to a seasonal newsletter. Topics will include outlining/choosing a plot or idea, panel layout, dialogue, lettering, coloring and more.

Participants will publish their attempts/teasers in an expanded summer edition of the CWC News. The Children’s Writing Club, which produces a quarterly newsletter, is kicking off its fourth year of meeting at the library, led by library employee Corcoran.
