Call for art, wellness celebration

Jul 24, 2014

Belfast — A Main Street Art Market and Wellness Day Festival are being planned for Saturday, Aug. 9, in downtown Belfast. Host Expanding Opportunities, a local nonprofit organization operating Aina Moja, an artisan support shop at The Health and Wellness Building, 39 Main St., is asking the community to get involved.

The Art Market is open to vendors, $25 per 10-by-10 foot space, and seeks local Maine artists, as well as cultural art that is ethically and responsibly sourced. Some spaces will be designated to local farmers with fresh Maine made goods and produce. Food Trucks are also invited for a $100 fee.

This event promises to be a fun time as organizers seek out talent, musicians, dancers and other performers, and will be free to the public, while donations will be encouraged. A children's booth with Camp Forest will offer face painting, basketmaking and other crafts with nature in mind and invites individuals and organizations to participate. Inside the building, a fashion show will take place at noon and feature handmade and fair trade worldly fashions with a purpose.

Anyone interested in taking part of this fun experience is encouraged to call Nicole Carbisiero at 930-8012. For more information on Expanding Opportunities, visit exop.org.
