Rockport — With nine new calves born this spring, Aldermere Farm is ready for their Calf Unveiling Day.

The annual open house event that draws in hundreds of people takes place Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Excitement is in the air to see the small Beltie calves as well as the rest of the herd especially the show line of heifers that the Aldermere Achievers 4-H Club will groom that day.

Calf Unveiling Day is held right at the main farm barn at Aldermere Farm located at 20 Russell Ave. in Rockport. The event is very family-friendly with numerous agricultural related activities, tours, and presentations that show off the cattle, farming methods, and agricultural products. Other local farms will also be on site with their goods and animals including Bittersweet Heritage Farm, Halfmoon Farm, Creelman Farm Creamery, Final-Lee Acres, Perennial Favorites, The Barber’s Bunnies, Sunnyside Farm, Yknot Farm, Frost Fire Farm, Tanglewood 4-H Camp, and more. The Uproot Pie Company will offer wood fired pizza and the Rusty Hinges band plays acoustic during the event.

The local Agricultural Poster Contest is another highlight of the day with posters from students in the third through twelfth grades in the Five Town Schools, which show their support for local foods and farms.
