Broken frame of logging truck causes delays on Route 17
Washington — A structural failure in the frame of a logging truck caused the frame to break — spilling hydraulic fluid along Route 17 in Washington Sept. 17, police said.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m., with Union EMS and Washington fire responding to the scene. There were no injuries and no other vehicles were involved. No fuel was spilled and the Maine Department of Transportation will assess the situation as to how to clean the fluid from the road, said Dwight Burtis, Detective with the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
Burtis said traffic is likely to be slowed on Route 17 for several hours while crews work to secure the scene and remove the vehicle, which was transporting logs.
