Broad Bay Church to honor veterans
Waldoboro — Broad Bay Congregational UCC will honor veterans on Sunday, Nov. 11 at the 10 a.m. church service.
Five Broad Bay veterans, whose service spans from World War II through the Korean conflict, Vietnam, the First Gulf War to 2001, will conduct a special liturgy of prayers, readings and music. Jack Andrews, Blake Donaldson, Ted Smith, Chet Merrifield and Chuck Gallagher will speak about their service and what it has meant to them over time.
“Too often, the military service of people in our community and the impact on their families goes unnoticed, while the heartfelt stories of their experiences, sacrifices, and commitment go unspoken,” said Rev. Nancy Duncan, Broad Bay’s minister. “On Sunday, Broad Bay will honor the veterans in our midst by listening and doing our best to understand the impact of military service on their lives. Broad Bay invites all veterans and their families to join with us on this special Remembrance Day.”
Carroll Smith will play the organ.
