Braided rug raffle in Waldoboro
Waldoboro — The Waldoborough Historical Society will be selling chances on a locally created and donated Waldoboro braided rug at the museum on Route 220 beginning on Waldoboro Day, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Chances will also be available at the Society’s table Sunday, June 29, at Wollicker’s Waldoboro Whimsies, a flea market and bazaar, at the VFW Hall. The sale will continue throughout the summer, and the drawing will take place Monday, Sept. 8, at the society’s final program of the 2014 season.
Under the leadership of Trustee Carol Blodgett, chances will sell for $1 each or six for $5. All proceeds from the sale will go to support the renovation of the Hauck Building.
The trustees of the WHS invite the public to view the gardens at the museum complex. Over the past two years, Master Gardeners Karyn Hayward and Dee Jones have planted in the museum’s gardens a wonderful variety of perennials which began blooming with the first warm days of spring, and they have used several outdoor artifacts, including an old school desk and several clam hods filled with annuals, to supplement the perennials. The volunteer work of these two women is most appreciated by the trustees, and as one visits the museum’s site, their horticultural talents are apparent.
