Brady offers art 'reMarks'
Rockland — "reMarks”, an exhibit of the art of noted Sedgwick artist Barbara Brady, will open with a 5 to 8 p.m. First Friday artist reception Aug. 3 at Yvette Torres Fine Art, 21 Winter St. The show will run through Sept. 2.
For Brady, whose work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions throughout the East Coast and is held in private collections internationally, painting is a vehicle in which to express the world in ways that go beyond written words and spoken ideas. This process of continual discovery through paint and incorporating other materials fascinates her more than the image.
"I am engaged in the immediate, automatic, self-conjuring, visceral, discovery of self and discovery of paint that fascinates and allures … I want to see what the paint will do, won’t do or can be encouraged to do. At the same time, I want the viewer to come close and spend time with a painting, to really see what is going on," she said of her work.
Yvette Torres gallery hours are Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by chance or appointment. For more information, call 332-4014 or visit yvettetorresfineart.com.
