Rockport — The professional Everyman Repertory Theatre has announced the cast and crew for its production of Horton Foote’s “The Trip to Bountiful.” The production will run Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m., April 6 through 21, at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St.

A Broadway revival of the play was announced months after Everyman had decided to include it in its season, so the troupe knew it would be a struggle to get the rights as Broadway producers typically lock down a show while it is running. After negotiating with the producers and agents of the show, Everyman did indeed get the rights released to it.

“I told them we were nearly in Canada! So, it’s just us and Broadway,” said Paul Hodgson, Everyman’s artistic director Paul Hodgson.

The cast includes a mix of Everyman Rep veterans and newcomers. The role of Mother Watts will be played by Andrea Itkin, not new to the theater community but in her first production with the Everyman Rep. Itkin lives in Camden and works as curriculum coordinator at the Community School. She has acted at the Penobscot Theatre in Bangor and the Public Theatre in Lewiston.

Returning to the Everyman stage will be David Troup and Jen Hodgson as Ludie and Jessie Mae, Mother Watts’ son and overbearing daughter-in-law; Abby Norman as Thelma; and David Greenham as the sheriff, with Randall Merrifield and Paul Hodgson rounding out the supporting cast.

The crew for “Bountiful” includes director Laurel Johnson, who was last seen in the Everyman’s production of “God of Carnage”; Keith Mackenzie as stage manager; Ellen Barnes, producer; Ken Barnes, set designer; Brandon Koons, lighting designer; Steve Bird, sound designer; and Jessica Manbeck, costume designer.

Tickets are $20 in advance and will be $25 at the door. More information can be found on the Everyman Rep’s website, everymanrep.org, where tickets are now on sale; or via its Facebook page.
