Boston’s best blues in Rockland
Rockland — The weekly blues series continues March 10 with a 7 p.m. show by the Barrett Anderson Trio featuring Ron Levy and Per Hanson. Admission at the door will be $10.
Led by the Boston Music Awards’ 2013 Blues Artist of the Year, the Barrett Anderson Trio promises hypnotic blues grooves fueled by vintage soul and rock ‘n’ roll. Anderson is a 15-year vet of Boston's blues scene who has been a member of both Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters and The Monster Mike Welch Band; paid his dues busking in Harvard Square; spent time in North Mississippi backing up hill-country bluesman T-Model Ford; and recorded his first album in Como, Miss.
Anderson, who beat out such musical luminaries as Roomful of Blues and the James Montgomery Band for that BMA, has spent the last six years performing throughout New England to rave reviews with his all-star organ trio lineup. Levy was organist for Albert King, BB King, Roomful of Blues and more; and Hanson is the internationally acclaimed drummer for Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters. Together, they excel at originality, strong songwriting and backbeat heavy, danceable grooves.
Upcoming in the weekly series are: March 17, Bobby Messano ($10); and March 24, Samantha Fish, who wowed the crowd during last year’s North Atlantic Blues Festival. Advance blues festival tickets are $25 for either day or $50 for the full weekend.
