Blue plays blues in Rockland
Rockland — The weekly blues series continues May 12 with a 7 p.m. show by Diane Blue. Admission at the door will be $10.
Boston's Blue is a soul-stirring vocalist, skillful harmonica player and crowd-pleasing entertainer. Voted Outstanding Female Singer in The Blues Audience 2011 Readers' Poll, Blue is a soulful and sassy performer with a strong and energetic delivery, serving up her own spin on soul, blues and R&B. She won the 2010 Massachusetts Blues Challenge, earning the honor of competing at the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. Blue has played harmonica and/or sung with guitarist extraordinaire Ronnie Earl, as well as international performers Luther Guitar Jr. Johnson, Big Jack Johnson and Irma Thomas, among others.
Upcoming in the weekly series are: May 19, Lydia Warren ($10); May 26, Alexis P. Suter Band ($15); June 2, Chris Duarte ($15); and a special two-band night starting 6:30 p.m. June 9, Shawn Holt and the Teardrops plus the Popa Chubby Band ($20; tickets for this show on sale now, call 596-6055).
