Blind Albert, in Velvet
Rockland — Rock City Cafe's Velvet Lounge will welcome back Blind Albert Saturday, Nov. 9. The music will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rock City Cafe, 316 Main St.
Vietnam combat veteran, rock and blues man Vincent Gabriel was born in New Jersey, started his first rock band at 19 and has never looked back. Over the past 20 years, he has had the honor to perform and work with blues greats Jimi Rogers, Carey Bell, Kenny Neal, Son Seals, Leon Russell, Big Jack Johnson and more. As a songwriter, he has penned more than 200 songs; one was released as part of 13-CD box set “Next Stop is Vietnam," which also includes songs written about the Vietnam war by Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Steppenwolf, Pete Seeger and many more well-known artists.
Gabriel will perform songs he has written over the past 40 years, as well as songs his parents used to sing. As usual, there is no cover charge; however, tipping the musicians is highly encouraged. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123.
