Winslow — The Oceanside field hockey team had a tough draw, with the season winding down, on Saturday, Oct. 12 in a road game with Winslow, the top-ranked squad in Eastern Class C.
The Mariners could not overtake the Black Raiders (12-1) and fell 2-0, as Oceanside dropped its fourth game of the campaign.
Brooke Haskell scored both goals for Winslow at the 16:29- and 8:07-marks of the first half, respectively.
Zoe Billington made four saves on six shots in the cage for Oceanside, while Delaney Wood made 11 saves on 11 shots for Winslow. The Black Raiders held a 11-9 edge in penalty corners.
The Mariners, which compete in Eastern Class B, likely will host an upcoming Eastern Class B playoff game.
In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Oceanside (9-4, 66.5306 points) is fourth, while Nokomis of Newport (13-0, 138.9796 points) is first in the 11-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
