Bid Big, Laugh Loud auction on Nov. 9
Owls Head — Trekkers will host its annual auction Saturday evening, Nov. 9, at the Owls Head Transportation Museum, Route 73. Featured entertainment will be provided by Maine humorist Tim Sample.
The event will feature silent and live components, beginning with a preview and silent auction bidding at 6 p.m. This year’s Bid Big, Laugh Loud auction will begin at 6:30 p.m., with auctioneer Bruce Gamage of Gamage Antiques in Rockland overseeing the bidding. Following the auction, at 8:30 p.m., Sample will entertain guests with his wit and humor. The evening will include a dessert buffet and coffee bar, with more than 80 desserts to choose from.
Admission to the auction is free; cost is $5 for the dessert buffet; and the comedy show is free for those who attend the auction, $10 after 8 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Trekkers’ students by lowering their program cost. Trekkers is a nonprofit, outdoor-based mentoring program that connects young people with caring adults through expeditionary learning, community service and adventure-based education.
Live auction items of particular interest include a Port Clyde Stay & Play package of a weeklong fall cottage rental for eight; a painting by Maine artist Lydia Kaeyer; a signed print by local artist Ronald Frontin; a pink tourmaline pendant from Hansen Jewelry; two safari packages for a six-day stay at the Zulu Nyala Safari Lodge in South Africa’s Zululand Conservation Area; and more. The silent auction will feature more than 150 offerings including artwork, gift certificates, spa treatments, culinary services, loam and landscape services.
