Land O' Lakes, Fla. — Held by her children, gathered in the hearts of her family, and lifted by the love of her friends, Betty Plimpton, 69, passed peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 in Land O' Lakes, Fla.
She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Joyce Moore; her brother, Conrad Futch; her daughter Laura Lowry; her son Scott Plimpton and two grandchildren.
Betty spent more than 20 years vacationing in Camden before living in Florida year round. She was an active member of the community and volunteered at many local organizations. A patron of the arts she was a strong supporter of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.
An inspiration to those who knew her she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year and spent the next 12 months defying her diagnosis. She packed the time left to her with family visits, a cruise to the Panama Canal and the creation of many memories which will be treasured forever. She will be loved and missed always.
