Benefit to help injured seabirds
Thomaston — On the Rush of Wings will hold a fundraising benefit at The Thomaston Cafe on Sunday, July 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. The theme Happy Feet was chosen to reflect the importance of healthy feet that are vital to birds that spend the majority of their lives on the open ocean.
On the Rush of Wings is a nonprofit pelagic bird wildlife rehabilitation facility located on Martin Point Road in Friendship. It is operated by Beth Settlemyer and Cindy Mackie, and licensed by federal and state authorities. Opened in 2011, its mission is to provide treatment and rehabilitation for pelagic birds throughout the Midcoast.
There will be a $20 donation at the door. Finger foods and beverages will be provided by The Thomaston Cafe and Peter Ott’s Steakhouse of Camden. There will be a silent auction with paintings, photographs and other art donated by artists. Proceeds will be used to fund the operating expenses of the center.
