Beltie Holiday at Aldermere Farm

Nov 22, 2012

Rockport — The Beltie Holiday event is a fun and interactive family event taking place at Aldermere Farm on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Folks will have an opportunity to pet a real Beltie calf and have pictures taken with one, so bring cameras. People young and old are invited to this free event to get up close and personal with one of the Belted Galloway calves, and if the weather is good, visitors are also able to visit with the other cattle around back of the main farmhouse. Children will have an opportunity to decorate a wooden Beltie ornament to take home, and other agricultural-related activities for youth will be on tap helping get young ones interested in food, farming, and gardening.

A small farmer's market will also be on-site during the event with Terra Optima having cider and meats, Half Moon Farm with jams, chutneys, wreaths, and produce, and Aldermere Farm with beef available. The Aldermere Achievers 4-H club will have their annual bake sale, but also look for them in their parade float (hay wagon) during the Christmas By the Sea parade. Finally, Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields staff and volunteers will be available during the Beltie Holiday event to answer questions about all the amazing programs and events that occur year-round at both sites.

Aldermere Farm is located at 20 Russell Avenue in Rockport. For more information, contact 236-2739 or aldermere.org.
