The next public supper at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1.   All dishes are guaranteed fresh as evidenced by the hot casseroles and crisp salads being delivered by the cooks who prepared them at home , even as guests line up to pay the $8 cost of the meal.

The pie table laden with freshly baked pumpkin, multiberry, cherry, peanut butter, pecan, lemon and chocolate pies is a busy stopping point as diners arrive to select their favorite before taking their places at the family-style tables.

Patrons have a choice of several types of salads: coleslaw, orange or lemon fluffy jello, tossed, potato, spinach and Ramen Noodle with fresh vegetables.  Servers bring steaming bowls of home baked beans to each table, in addition to dishes of such choices as macaroni and cheese, chicken and rice, corn or clam casserole, ground beef and tomato sauce and Mexican combinations.   Ham and hotdogs in sauce round out the selections.    Warm rolls and coffee are part of the meal, too.

Veterans of the monthly suppers know they can ask the servers to locate a favorite dish that might be on another table, so they can try some, too.

Conversations and laughter provide a pleasant atmosphere as people enjoy the company of the table.  All are welcome to attend for a great meal and a great time.
