Basket social to benefit Rockland nursing association
Food lovers, this is the event not to missed. Come to Trackside Station in Rockland on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. as the Rockland District Nursing Association or RDNA auctions a variety of savory meals, desserts, and unique experiences focused around fine spirits and tasty delicacies, with auctioneer Bruce Gamage and special guests, the Rock Coast Rollers.
Tickets are available for $5 at EC Moran Insurance, Rockland, and Norman Assurance Associates, South Thomaston. All proceeds benefit RDNA, a local, independent 501(c)(3) organization.
Local cooks, entrepreneurs and neighbors in RDNA's service area will prepare a variety of simple, unique and intriguing delights for winning bidders. Each basket available for bid at the social will contain information regarding the culinary offer. Baskets to be auctioned include an invitation to a private home for a British dinner party and lore, cooking and lunch with a local chef, a night with friends behind Main Street storefronts, and mouth-watering desserts from well-known community bakers. There is still time for local culinary artists to get involved. Area cooks in Warren, Union, Cushing, South Thomaston, Owls Head, Thomaston, St. George and Rockland are encouraged to contact RDNA at 594-4522. To stay up to date, follow event updates on RDNA’s Facebook page.
Pat Snow, RDNA Board bresident, said in a news release, “now that I am older, remaining in my own home is of utmost importance. It is such a relief to know that RDNA is there to help not only me, but my family.”
RDNA provides non-acute, in-home nursing and community health services for predominantly elderly residents living independently, focusing on individuals who otherwise may not have access to care. Without federal/state funds or insurance reimbursement, RDNA relies on gifts and contributions to cover 70 percent of the annual operating costs, with $0.93 of every dollar returning to the community in service.
