Barnes is back in Velvet
Rockland — The Bill Barnes Jazz Trio will make a long-awaited return to the Velvet Lounge series Saturday, Dec. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rock City Café, 316 Main St.
Veteran New York session guitarist Barnes started his musical career in the late 1960s, touring with ATCO Records recording artist Arthur Conley (“Sweet Soul Music”). He has since played with a stellar lineup of music industry heavies; and his 2006 album “Winds of Bodhgaya” was a Skyjazz Internet Jazz Radio Listener Poll favorite. Solo, dup or trio, Barnes’ repertoire includes gypsy jazz, classic jazz standards, sultry bossa novas, tasty ballads and cool, laid-back blues.
As usual, there is no cover charge; however, tipping the musicians is highly encouraged. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123.
