BAHS, Oceanside, Camden Hills athletes tackle PTC Class B honors

Three Lions earn first-team recognition, four Mariners chosen for second-team status

High school football players from Belfast, Oceanside and Camden Hills have received recognition from Pine Tree Conference Class B coaches for their stellar performances on the field and in the classroom.

Additionally, an Oceanside assistant coach has been placed in the spotlight for his role in keeping the Mariner program going during the preseason when the head coach was unavailable.

Three Belfast Lions have been selected PTC Class B first-team all-conference, while four Oceanside Mariners have been chosen second-team all-conference. Additionally, a Lion and two Camden Hills Windjammers have earned all-academic all-conference recognition.

Named to the PTC Class B first-team offense were Belfast's Steve Paul (offensive line) and Carl Dodge (utility), while a member of the first-team defense is BAHS' Peter Kelley (linebacker). There was 17 players each chosen to the first-team offense and defense.

Securing PTC Class B second-team recognition on offense were Oceanside's Jacob Butman (tight end) and Garrett Burns (utility), while Mariners Sam Meklin (defensive end) and Dan Hendricks (linebacker) were second-team defensive selections. There were 17 second-team offensive players and 13 second-team defensive players selected.

Additionally, Oceanside assistant coach Archie Stalcup was named the PTC Class B co-assistant coach of the year. Stalcup stepped up to take over the Mariners during the preseason while veteran Oceanside head coach Woody Moore decided if he could continue as coach as his full-time job within Regional School Unit 13 was been determined.

Student-athletes who made the grade for all-academic status within the conference were Belfast's Paul and Camden Hills' Alex Crans and Ian Nason.
