Awesome fundraiser at Trackside
Rockland — Portland-based ‘80s band The Awesome will perform Thursday, Oct. 17, at the historic train station, Trackside Station, 4 Union St., in an event to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Rockland Professional Firefighters Local 1584 chapter of the International Association of Fire Fighters and Trackside are joining forces host the benefit.
The Awesome features seasoned musicians with experience in several of Maine's most popular bands. Dancers can go back in time to the 1980s listening to the sounds of Hall and Oates, T'pau, Wang Chung, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, INXS, Mr. Mister, Nu Shooz, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Human League, Wham, Tears for Fears, Whitney Houston and more.
The fun will begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door, with advance tickets available by calling Carl Anderson with the Rockland fire department at 831-9323. A limited number of tickets will be available, so advance purchase is recommended.
The event is generously sponsored by Prince's Furniture, Fiore Artisan Olive Oils and Vinegars, Trackside Station, Rockland Ford, Hannaford, Stephanie Williams Personal Training and KDK. MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
