Author talk, concert in Lincolnville
Lincolnville — Local author Kate Braestrup will be guest speaker at the Lincolnville Community Library’s first presentation for 2013, followed by a concert by young trio Mister Moon, Wednesday, Jan. 16 beginning at 7 p.m. at the library, in the former Grampa Hall’s building at the corner of Main Street/Route 173 and Heal Road in Lincolnville Center.
Braestrup is a community minister and one of the first chaplains ever appointed to the Maine Warden Service. She is the author of many books including “Here If You Need Me,” “Beginner’s Grace,” “Marriage and Other Acts of Charity” and the novel “Onion”; and has written for City Paper Mademoiselle, Ms., Hope and Law and Order (magazine). She in lives in Lincolnville with her husband, artist Simon van der Ven, and six children.
Mister Moon’s Richie Keyes (guitar, vocals) and sisters Hallee (mandolin, vocals) and Kati Pottle (fiddle, vocals) all hail from Waldo County. These three talented musicians have created the genre title Foograss to describe their sound, as Mister Moon combines glowing three-part harmonies and eclectic acoustic arrangements with sweet, energetic spirit. The trio recently released their first album, “Some Sweet Soul.”
Tickets will be $10, available in advance by calling Rosey Gerry at 975-5432.
