Author speaks at Waldoborough Historical Society
Waldoboro — The Waldoborough Historical Society will present its final program of the 2012 season Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Waldoboro Public Library on Main Street. The featured speaker will be journalist and novelist Kevin C. Mills, voted Best Author in the 2011 Portland Phoenix Readers Poll.
Mills will present readings from his newest book “Breakwater,” a follow-up to “Sons and Daughters of the Ocean.” “Breakwater” is a story of love, faith and tragedy and centers around Hal Miller and his grandson, Clark as they seek to understand the purpose of their lives. “Breakwater” is the second of an historical trilogy that will conclude with the forthcoming “Sea of Liberty.”
Mills, who has covered Maine sports for years, has received several journalistic awards with two recent ones being from the Maine Press Association. His grandmother Frances Hassner’s family is from Waldoboro and he is related to Benners, Grosses and Hassners in the area. Copies of Mills’ books may be purchased after the presentation and he will be happy to autograph them as well. The public is cordially invited to attend the program; there is no admission charge.
