Audrey, Layla: Pet picks of the week

Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County
Feb 20, 2014
Layla

Our pet pick of the week is actually a pair of dogs Audrey and Layla. Audrey is a 7-year-old mixed breed, perhaps a bit of shepherd. She originally came to the shelter as part of the Hurricane Katrina Relief in 2007. After being in a home for the past six years her owner lost his job and his ability to afford her care. She loves her "sister" Layla and would prefer to find a home which includes the two of them. Audrey has plenty of energy and enjoys long walks. She would be best with older children as she can be touch sensitive. Layla is a 6-year-old shepherd mix and Audrey's best friend. The two have lived together since 2009 and are very bonded. Layla loves attention and responds with lots of kisses. The perfect home would include Audrey, a family to take her on walks and a comfy bed to curl up on afterwards.

We have puppies on the way. Six, adorable 9-week-old Rottweiler/Lab mixes will be arriving next week. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, we are currently accepting applications.

February is Spay/Neuter Awareness month and we're spreading the word and are here to help. If you need assistance to have your pet spayed/neutered call the shelter at 594-2200. Or stop by Pet Quarters on World Spay Day, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to learn what resources are available. Then, join us for dinner on the 25th at Applebees, from 4 to 9 p.m. and a portion of the night's sales will go toward our spay/neuter fund. You need to present a special coupon to activate the donation, available at the shelter, Loyal Biscuit, Free Press or printed from home, visit hskcme.org.
