Artists’ tray art on view, bid
Waldoboro — On Saturday, March 23, trustees of the Waldoboro Public Library will hold a soup and salad supper from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Soule-Shuman VFW Hall, 40 Mill St. An auction of decorated trays also will be part of the fundraising event.
Fifteen local artists including Jean Kigel, Brooke Pacy, Ken Martin, John Fawcett, Philippe Guillerm, Roberta Goschke, Ralph Bush, Diane Walsh, Jean Christy, Audrey Bechler, Holly Berry, Anne Heywood, John Blamey, Chris Derby and Judy Holliday were invited to participate in the tray auction. Medomak Valley High School art instructor Lois Eastman and her advanced art class of six students — Gerald Harriman, Cody Monroe, Sofie Sawyer, Jade Snider, Samantha Taylor and Angela Gray — also participated. Each artist was given a small, unfinished tray to sculpt, paint, decoupage and otherwise add whatever artistic touches they wished to create.
Beginning Friday, March 1, the trays will be displayed at the library and in the downtown windows of the Community Pharmacy, Mom and Squawk, Village Bakery, Medomak Market, Cumler & Lynch and Medomak Valley Land Trust. Those who wish to bid on the trays may do so where they are displayed. The culmination of the bidding will be at the soup supper, where all 22 trays will be together for final bidding. Winners will be announced at 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the supper and auction will benefit the library's operating funds. The First is sponsoring the tray auction. For more information, visit waldoborolibrary.org or call the library at 832-4484.
