'Artists of St. George' honors McClain
Tenants Harbor — The 10th annual "Artists of St. George" show will open on Friday evening, July 20 at the Odd Fellows Hall, downtown at Watts Avenue. The public is invited to an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is the kick-off event for St. George Days.
This year’s show will be a tribute to Don McClain, who died unexpectedly on July 8. McClain founded the “Artists of St. George” show 10 years ago and has been responsible for producing it since its inception. McClain studied at the Museum School of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia, and his work has been acquired by MBNA of Delaware and various private collectors.
Many painters, photographers and sculptors from the town of St. George will be displaying numerous works of art. The sale of artwork solely benefits the artists, and admission is free. The event has established a Student Art Scholarship, however, and donations will be welcomed.
The exhibit will run through Saturday, Aug. 4 and may be visited Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment; call 372-8966 or 372-6369 if the hall is not open.
