‘ARTinME’ calls for entries
Boothbay Harbor — The Boothbay Region Art Foundation is calling for entries for “ARTinME,” a statewide juried fine art show open to all Maine artists. This autumn’s show will feature new and exciting work from Maine’s top artists.
Any artist who has a Maine address is invited to submit up to two paintings, drawings, sculptures or other mixed media pieces. Entries must conform to the following guidelines: maximum size for 2-D work is 4.5 feet in any direction; maximum size for 3-D work is 50 pounds and three feet in any direction. Sculptors must provide their own pedestals; all work must be hand-delivered; entry fee is $20 per piece, $15 for BRAF members.
Entry dates for the show are Tuesday, Oct. 15, from noon to 7 p.m.; and Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. tol noon. The show will open Saturday, Oct. 19, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m.; and run through Nov. 3.
The judge for “ARTinME” this year Joachim Homann, Ph.D. Homann, curator of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art since 2010, has been in this country at the University of Texas, El Paso, and Colgate University, since 2005. He has degrees in architecture and imagery from Heidelberg University; and studies in art history and media theory from universities in Gottingen, Munich, Heidelberg and the State Academy of Design, Karlsruhe. He has curated more than 30 exhibitions while in this country and published articles and catalogs for the current exhibition of Maurice Prendergast’s work at the Bowdoin Museum, as well as for Chinese woodcuts and art from Oaxaca, Mexico.
Homann will select Best in Show, First and Second Places and Honorable Mentions to be announced at the reception. In addition, the BRAC Board of Trustees sponsors a People’s Choice Award that will be given when the show closes.
