Pen Bay Healthcare has not purchased or used any of the contaminated steriod injections related to the recent outbreak of meningitis. That steroid was made by a specialty pharmacy in Framingham, Mass. Pen Bay Healthcare facilities only buy directly from the drug manufacturers, and drugs of this nature are administered directly from the sterile vial. No compounding is involved, which eliminates the chance of contamination from that source.
