April is National Pet I.D. monthPope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County
If your pet were accidentally or unexpectedly separated from you, are they prepared to be reunited with you? On average just 15 percent of dogs and 2 percent of cats that end up as strays in shelters are reunited with their owners. Why so dismally low? Because the animals were not wearing a collar with an I.D. tag. Help your pet get home, make sure they have an I.D. tag and a microchip. April is National Pet I.D. month and we'll be celebrating all month long by reducing the price of our personally engraved pet I.D. tags to just $5. Tags are engraved right on site at the shelter with vital contact information and take just minutes to create, with plenty of fun shapes and colors to choose from. Also, in collaboration with the Loyal Biscuit Co., we will be holding Microchip Clinics at the three area Loyal Biscuit Co. locations the next three Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; April 12 in Rockland, April 19 in Belfast and April 26 in Camden. Micro-chipping is quick and easy and costs just $25. No appointment is necessary. Dogs and cats are welcome. (Indoor cats need I.D.s too) Can't make it to a clinic? We offer micro-chipping at the shelter during regular business hours for the same low price. Make sure your pet is protected and has a ticket home, get tagged/chipped today.
Our pet pick of the week is Nana, a sweet 2-year-old Rottweiler/lab mix. Nana came all the way from South Carolina with her puppies. All of her puppies have been adopted, except for Nana who is currently enrolled in our K-9 Corrections program, and now its Nana's turn to find her own home. She is fine with most dogs, loves people but is probably too much for cats. Nana will make a wonderful family dog for some lucky family.
Through the end of April the adoption fee for adult cats is reduced to just $25 during our Forget-Me-Not adoption promotion. We have dozens upon dozens of fabulous felines who are looking for homes and will make excellent companions. During this promotion, the adoption fee on select dogs will also be reduced by $50.
