The annual AVS Christmas Concert will be on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 6:30 p.m.
There will be an early release day Dec. 21. School will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. Christmas vacation will be Dec. 22 to Jan. 2.
There are a couple more basketball games this month. There will be a game Dec. 19 at 3:45 p.m. They will be playing Jefferson and the game will be at AVS. There will be a game on Dec. 21 at noon, the game will be on Isleboro. Come out and support our teams!
Appleton Library News
An exhibit by Appleton artist Priscilla Cross is featured at the library this month with a variety of paintings and sculptures; please stop in to see her work and to peruse her art notebook featuring her other works. The Thursday Story Time participants are in need of white card stock and colored construction paper for their weekly craft projects; if you would like to make a donation of these art supplies, please drop them by the library during open hours. Just in time for the holidays — Appleton Library large tote bags, suggested donation $15/each — stop in to get one for everyone on your shopping list! The library hours during the school break will be as follows: closed Dec. 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30 and 31 as well as Jan. 1; the library will be open Dec. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (no story hour) and 7 to 9 p.m. as well as Dec. 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will resume regular hours Wednesday, Jan. 2. Appleton Library staff would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a Healthful New Year.

There will be a Christmas Eve Service on Monday, Dec. 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. This will be a time of singing Christmas carols, special music, and scripture reading.

Live Nativity at True Value
On Dec. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a live nativity at Union True Value hardware store. There will be real animals, singing, snacks, warm drinks and lots of fun! Mark your calendars; you don’t want to miss this!
Appleton Trading Post
I don’t know if you have been checking the Appleton Trading Post Facebook page recently or not. You never know what you will find on there! Just today I noticed that people are giving away some snow clothes and other items. Check it out; you never know it might be what you are looking for! Or if you may have something that someone else needs and you would like to give it away! It is the season for giving, after all!
Camden Opera House: A Christmas Carol
A holiday classic returns to Camden Opera House. The special pre-show performances will be presented by choruses from Hope Middle School on Friday night and by Lincolnville Middle School on Saturday night. Leah Winchenbach and Lucas Fisher will also be joining us from Bay Chamber Music School. It will be at the Camden Opera House on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15, at 7 p.m. or Sunday, Dec. 16, for a 2:30 p.m. matinee.
