Appleton Village School news

On Wednesday, May 24 there will be the Art Walk and Spring Concert at the School. The Art Walk starts at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6 p.m.

Kindergarten registration is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30. If you have an eligible child (5 years old on or before Oct. 15, 2017) and have not yet contacted the school, please do so ASAP at 785-4504.

The last day of school will be on Monday, June 19.

Appleton library news

We are in need for help in covering Tuesday, and Thursday night shifts. Do you have two to two-and-a-half hours a month to spare? How about once a quarter? Both evening shifts are quiet and provide a great time to finish a personal project.

Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. there is Story Time is for children of any age, come and hear a story!

For your next meeting or birthday party, remember our Community Meeting Room is available.

On Saturday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. the Bugmobile will be at the library. This Chewonki traveling natural history program will draw crowds interested in all things related to insects. Live specimens are one of the highlights. This event is made possible by the Rose and Samuel Rudman Grant through the Maine Community Foundation.

Appleton Memorial Day services

Memorial Day services are scheduled for Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the Miller Yard in Burkettville (Medomac Valley Grange in case of rain); and at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery (Appleton Historical Society Meeting House in case of rain.). Meet at Gushee’s Corner at 10:45 a.m. and walk to the cemetery.

Children’s Day at the Union Farmers Market

Children’s Day at the Union Farmers' Market will be on Friday, June 2. There will be free table space for kids to sell their art or crafts and be a part of the music that day (3 to 6 p.m.). Remember to bring a table, chair and change. Do you want to play an instrument that day? We suggest two songs per child. Fill out an application or call 845-2209 for more details.
