The students at AVS have been working hard this fall, learning their lines for the play "Charlotte’s Web." They will perform the play Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at AVS. It should be a fun night!
News from the Town Office
Dog licenses for 2014 are now available. Remember to register before Jan. 31, 2014, or there is an extra charge.
The next voting day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. State referendums and school budget voting will be at Appleton Town Office. Absentee ballots are available, contact the town office for more information 785-4722.
The town office will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. It will also be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Also, remember that your 2013 property taxes are due by Nov. 30!
Appleton Historical Society News
Appleton Historical Society's November meeting will be Monday, Nov. 4, at Appleton Library. Richard Lenfest of Belmont will follow his family's meanderings from the time of the Crusades to the Battle of Gettysburg, during the American Civil War, and finally settling in Washington and Union. A brief business meeting will take place at 7 p.m., followed by the evening's presentation, which will begin before 7:30. It's certain to be another interesting program.
Light refreshments will be served after the evening's program. Remind a friend. Bring a neighbor!
Affordable Care Act Information Night,
Allen Insurance and Financial will offer an information session to help educate area residents about the Affordable Care Act (the federal legislation many call Obamacare) at Appleton Library on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. Anyone with questions about health insurance is welcome to attend. The presenter is Dan Wyman of Appleton, manager of the insured benefits division at Allen Insurance and Financial. The Affordable Care Act requires almost all Americans to have health insurance as of Jan. 1, 2014, or pay a penalty.
Story Hour at the library is on Thursdays, during the academic school year, 10:15 to 11 a.m. It’s a wonderful morning of social time and literacy activities for caregivers and their children.
