News from the Town Office
Dog licenses for 2014 are now available. Remember to register before Jan. 31, 2014, or there is an extra charge.
The next voting day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting will take place at Appleton Town Office. Absentee ballots are available, contact the town office for more information by calling 785-4722.
The town office will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. It will also be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Also, remember, your 2013 property taxes are due by Nov. 30!
Thursday, Oct. 24, will be an early release day at school, for parent/teacher workshops. School will dismiss at 11:30 a.m.
On Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m., students at AVS will present the play "Charlotte’s Web."
Affordable Care Act Information Night
Allen Insurance and Financial will offer an information session to help educate area residents about the Affordable Care Act (the federal legislation many call Obamacare) at Appleton Library on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. Anyone with questions about health insurance is welcome to attend. The presenter is Dan Wyman of Appleton, manager of the insured benefits division at Allen Insurance and Financial. The Affordable Care Act requires almost all Americans to have health insurance as of Jan. 1, 2014, or pay a penalty.
Story Hour at the library is on Thursdays during the academic school year from 10:15 to 11 a.m. It’s a wonderful morning of social time and literacy activities for caregivers and their children.
