Annual service set at Old South Cushing church
Cushing — The annual service of the Old South Cushing Baptist Church on Salt Pond Road in Cushing will take place Sunday, Aug. 17, at 4 p.m.
The Cushing Historical Society was given this building with the stipulation that a religious service would take place once a year. This idyllic setting has also been the site of many weddings, concerts, and even a movie or two. People have gathered for christenings, poetry readings, and family and community celebrations.
Through the years there have been many inspirational guest preachers from many denominations. This year the guest preacher is Rev. Edward Wynne. Wynne was a Methodist preacher in upper New Jersey for 40 years and retired to Maine 16 years ago living now in Damariscotta. The topic of his homily is entitled Keep Life Simple.
The Old South Cushing Baptist Church is located on Salt Pond Road, which connects Route 97 to Pleasant Point Road.
