Love From the Sky is the true story of a young girl living on an isolated island off Cape Cod in the 1940s. The six-year-old works alongside her father, the lighthouse keeper of Cuttyhunk Light. The island becomes a magical kingdom in her imagination as she romps and explores with her loyal dog Rex. Welcome to the world of Seamond Ponsart, who has everything a girl could want. . . except one thing. Her mother helps her write a letter to the Flying Santa, the man who drops care packages from a plane at Christmas time to lighthouse families, asking for a special gift. This heartwarming story is for ages 4-10.
COAST GUARD CITY RE-CERTIFICATION CELEBRATION - 2-4 PM
The Rockland Coast Guard City Committee has announced that it has received official notification of recertification as a designated Coast Guard City through 2018. The acceptance letter was issued by the office of The Commandant of the United States Coast Guard and received by Mayor Will Clayton.
Signed by Admiral R.J. Papp, Jr. it reads in part “I deeply appreciate the City of Rockland’s continued support of our Coast Guard men and women stationed in the Rockland area. I am pleased to inform you that Rockland has been recertified “A Coast Guard City” in recognition of that support.”
The process to become designated is a long and arduous one and requires renewal every 5 years. “There are only 14 designated Coast Guard Cities in the entire United States, and we are very honored to have achieved this certification.” said Dot Black, co-chair of the Coast Guard City Committee. “We appreciate the continued support of the City of Rockland and their partnership in recognizing the importance of Coast Guard Station Rockland and the men and women who serve.”
“As a Coast Guard City our mission is to reach out to Coast Guard personnel and their families to aid in their transition into their new “home away from home”, making them feel a part of our community. These efforts illustrate a longstanding and enduring relationship with the Coast Guard.”
COME TO THE MUSEUM AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT TO THE ROCKLAND COAST GUARD!
