An ‘Evening of Story and Song’

Jul 15, 2014
Local writers and visiting musicians will join together for story and song in Waldoboro.

Waldoboro — “Tell Me a Story: An Evening of Story and Song” will be held Friday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at the Broad Bay Congregational United Church of Christ, 941 Main St./Route 220. Writers and singer/songwriters will share stories through music and spoken word.

Twice a month, writers from several locations, cultural backgrounds and life experiences gather in Rockland to share their writing, their lives and what touches their hearts. Their work includes reflections about aging, spirituality, and ethnic and racial identity. They share a love for writing and storytelling, knowing that good writing and good stories can and do transform lives.

This Talbot Avenue Writers Group spans many professional backgrounds including therapists, clergy, attorney, teacher/administrator and actor/director. They write poetry, memoirs and humor, sharing it around Sally Landsburg’s dining room table. “Tell Me a Story” will offer accounts of moving, assembling a small grill or encountering the Buddha at Walmart.

The writers are Landsburg, Elizabeth Martin of Owls Head, James Weathersby of Spruce Head, Nancy Duncan of Rockland, Valerie Landsburg of Rockland, Ken Payment of St. George and Meagan Shertzer of Thomaston. They will be joined by musicians-from-away James McVay of Los Angeles, Jim Sheridan of Sedona, Ariz., Lisa Harlow Stark of Los Angeles, Ken Minotti of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and AJ Minotti of Indialantic, Fla.

There is no charge for the evening; donations will be accepted. For more information, call Nancy Duncan at 691-1036.
