Waldoboro — Former American Idol contestant Phil Stacey entertained and ministered to a crowd of local residents May 21 at the American Legion in Waldoboro.

A group of almost 50 people gathered to see Stacey and fellow musician Trevor Hager perform both together and independently.

The event, sponsored by West Waldoboro Community Church, kicked off with a show by Heaven's Blend, a band started by two local pastors in 2000. Stacey and Hager then took the stage to not only entertain, but share the word of God as well.

Stacey, who has performed in countries ranging from France to Indonesia to Thailand, communicated his affection for Maine and its people and expressed gratification for the opportunity to minister in the state.
