American gardening in the 19th century
Camden — Terry Hire, the noted fine arts photographer and amazing gardener from Northport, will speak next Tuesday, Feb. 19 on The Rise of American Gardening in the 19th Century. Like the others in the Camden Garden Club’s Winter Horticulture Series, this talk will be at 10 a.m. in the Picker Room at the Camden Library.
Hire travels extensively, combining his two great talents by bringing back stunning photos of beautiful gardens, always a breathtaking and educational show.
The following week, Tuesday, Feb. 26 , the garden club will present the final topic, Dancing with Dahlias with Paul Fenton. All the lectures are free.
The Camden Garden Club is entering its 98th year of cultivating the art of gardening, developing and preserving beauty in and around Camden, and promoting civic improvements and conservation of natural resources. It’s a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine. Meetings are open to everyone and new members are always welcome.
The snow is beautiful after the historic blizzard has passed. Winter sunlight is clear and most days the sky is blue. But imagine spring.
