American Bulldog is pet pick of the week

Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County

Junior

Our pet pick of the week is Junior, a handsome 2-year-old American Bulldog. Junior loves kids and, with a proper introduction, is fine around most dogs. He will be a loyal companion, devoted and protective of his family. If you're ready for a strong, active boy and don't mind wet kisses, Junior may be your match.

We have several sweet and lovely senior cats, like Mystique who would be ever so grateful to find a sunny spot on a window sill or curled up on the end of your bed to keep you company and purr in contentment. Their stay in the shelter is particularly difficult as they've known years of love and attention in a real home. Perhaps you have room in your heart and lap for a senior cat.

Save the Date: Dine out for a cause Thursday, June 12 for our seventh annual Eat for Pete’s Sake fundraising event. We have a growing list of great restaurants signing up to participate in this delicious fundraiser. Each restaurant will donate a portion of their profits on this special day to help support homeless animals in our community. Want to eat at your favorite restaurant for Eat for Pete's Sake, ask them to join in on behalf of homeless animals. Contact Grace at events@hskcme.org for more information.

Is your Fido a natural for Mr. February? We are now accepting photos for our 2015 Calendar. There are several options to let your pet shine. The coveted Cover Shot is taken but we still have Glamour Shots where you'll have the pleasure of seeing your pet’s full page sized photo for an entire month with accompanying sidebar story where you can gush about your pet. Or maybe the very affordable Tail Wagger Shot, a photo featured on a month date space, is more your style. You'll also receive a complimentary 2015 Calendar to show off to your friends and family. They make awesome holiday gifts too at just $10. Don't miss out on this fun way to help homeless animals in our community. Submission forms are at hskcme.org or pick one up at the shelter. We also have advertising opportunities. Email calendar@hskcme.org with any questions.
