Allan E. Samuelson
Union — Allan E. Samuelson, 92, died Oct. 22, 2013, at Country Manor in Whitefield.
He was born March 16, 1921, in Malden, Mass. to Anders and Ida Anderson Samuelson. He grew up in Everett, Mass. and graduated from Everett High School.
He worked for General Electric as an apprentice and eventually as a machinist. He married Isabella Jaques July 26, 1957. In Maine, he worked as a machinist for many companies including G.T.E. Sylvania in Waldoboro. He also worked for Cushman Bread Company and as a Fuller Brush Salesman.
He retired in the early 1980s.
Allan loved to sing and sang in a barbershop chorus and in the People’s United Methodist Church choir in Union. He enjoyed gardening, loved animals and was known for being a practical joker. He had a unique sense of humor. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabella Samuelson, who died in 2004.
He is survived by his daughters, Christina deGroff and her husband Robert of Washington, Priscilla Woodson and her husband David of Roanoke, Va., Barbara Worden and her husband John of Union; grandchildren, Andrea deGroff and her fiancé Steven Sroczynski of Quincy, Mass., Samantha deGroff and her husband Dominik Lobkowicz of Waldoboro; Amy, Stephanie, and Julianne Woodson, all of Roanoke, Va., John M. Worden of Port Orchid, Wash.; niece, Carol Blois and her husband Bucky of Saugus, Mass.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation Saturday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. A graveside service to celebrate Allan’s life will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at East Union Cemetery in East Union.
