All-singing 'Umbrellas of Cherbourg'
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings Fridays at 7 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1.
Continuing this month's Vive la France theme, the Aug. 17 film is "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," a 92-minute nonrated movie from 1964. Jacques Demy’s valentine to the classic Hollywood musical is one of the most beloved, romantic movies of all time. Every word of dialogue is sung in this glorious masterpiece starring Catherine Deneuve, and Nino Castelnuovo as the man she is in love with.
Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. The Thomaston Academy Building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
