Aea evening caps PicassoWhat’s season
Rockland — PicassoWhat, the new Main Street gallery, will say goodbye to the summer season with a scheduled finale celebration featuring Camden artist Gigi Aea Friday, Sept. 6, during the 5 to 8 p.m. First Friday Art Walk.
Wrapping up his show “Summer on Silk,” an exhibit of large-scale textile paintings by the Georgian-born artist, the gallery will host a special night just for Aea, free and open to the public. The exhibition and the gallery’s season at this current location will end Sunday, Sept. 8; new location details are forthcoming.
“I strive to gain access into the deeper existence of the world through uncommon illusions or visions, and render them in paint,” said Aea, who will meet and greet gallery guests and speak about the large-scale silk paintings on view.
In addition, new small scale abstract works by Nikki Galapon, portraits of “working class owls” by Rebecca Rouse, classical music instrument portraits by Laura Tetrault and intimate surrealist paintings by M.C. Hutcheson will be on view.
PicassoWhat is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to the second-floor gallery is through the Main Street doors between FOG and Black Parrot. For more information, visit the gallery’s Facebook page; email email@example.com; or call 593-8109.
