Adult sexuality, relationship classes offered at Rockland church

Jan 10, 2013

Rockland — The First Universalist Church in Rockland is offering an adult program in sexuality and relationships starting Sunday, Jan. 29 from noon to 4 p.m.

The church has been offering Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education programs for children and youth and is ready to add the adult program. Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health and society and culture.

Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.

Why participate in the adult level Our Whole Lives program? Whether a person has never experienced a sexuality education program before, or it has been a very long time since a person did, OWL provides one with the tools to make informed decisions about one's own actions and responding to others. Participants also will be able to enter discussions about sexuality in society from a more informed, solid position. Learn in a safe, relaxed environment, exploring values and actions in this group.

The program will be on the following Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., Jan. 27, Feb.10, Feb. 24, March 10, March 24, April 7 and April 21. There is a $50 fee for non-members, although no one will be turned away because of financial difficulties. For more information or to sign up, call or email the church office at 594-8750 or mail@uurockland.org.
