Adult art workshops at Rockland library
Rockland — Catinka Knoth will lead an art workshop series for adults on creating motifs for celebrations of February Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon in the Friends Community Room of Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. There will be no class Feb. 17 as the library is closed for Presidents Day.
Participants will create their own art, focusing on a different theme each week: Feb. 3, Chinese New Year — Year of the Horse; Feb. 10, Valentine’s Day roses, papercuts and cards; and Feb. 24, Mardi Gras masks. Knoth will provide instruction and guidance; participants will work with pencil, colored pencil, crayon, and papercut, with a focus on drawing in color.
Knoth provides the classes free of charge, with materials supplied. Friends of Rockland Library host the workshops, which are open to the public. For more information, call Knoth at 596-0069 or the library at 594-0310.
Knoth paints watercolors of Maine and whimsical animal scenes, which she offers as cards and prints. She also teaches a free weekly children's drawing class at the library, sponsored by Wendy and Keith Wellin. For more information about her work, visit catinkacards.com.
