A warm and hearty Belfast thank you breakfast to CMP workers!
Once again Belfast & Waldo County showed why people love to live, work and play here. A warm feeling penetrated the crowd as the Waldo County residents showed up at 4 am (and some before that) to prepare breakfast for the CMP and other workers trying to restore power in Waldo County including the islands. Over 200 lineman and tree crews enjoyed a delicious breakfast along with cheers and thanks from the crowd. Food was also distributed to CMP mobile headquarters, to the local Red Cross shelter where many families are still waiting to return home and also to the volunteers who are helping at the shelter. Some goodies were also shared at the Belfast Fire Department and Public Works with our deepest thanks for all their efforts. The Belfast Rotary, Lions and Shriners were all represented in the crowd of volunteers and some people, who out of the kindness of their hearts, responded to our plea to help this morning. Tina Delsanto and her crew at Delvino's Restaurant and Ryan Otis and his staff at Rollie's both deserve a big thank you for the prep work and cooking. The staff at the high school handled organizational details, flipped pancakes until everyone was full and then cleaned up. Stories were shared, thanks given and shouts of "stay safe" and "keep warm" could be heard as the crews began their shifts. The Belfast Chamber of Commerce deeply appreciates the community coming together and CMP has expressed their sincere thanks as well.
