A ‘Love Affair’ for Valentine’s
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings weekly at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. February’s theme is The Affair of Love.
For Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, the series will screen “Love Affair,” an 88-minute movie from 1939. While on an ocean cruise, strangers Michel Marnet (Charles Boyer) and Terry McKay (Irene Dunne) are instantly taken with each other. Unfortunately, they are both engaged to other people, so they promise to reunite in six months to see if their passion still burns. En route to the reunion, Terry is crippled in a car accident, heightening the drama of this Oscar-nominated romance.
Still to come this month are: Feb. 21, “It Happened One Night” (1934, USA); and, Feb. 28, “40 Carats” (1973, USA). Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served.
The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
