A Harper Halloween
Rockland — The weekly Monday night blues series continues Oct. 31 with Harper and Midwest Kind, playing the annual Halloween party. Admission is $15 at the door for the 7 to 10 p.m. show at the downtown Time Out Pub, 275 Main St.
It’s been more than a few years since the award-winning Australian singer/songwriter Peter D. Harper — known in the music world simply as Harper — has played the party; his didgeridoo will bring a bone-vibrating element to the proceedings. Harper creates a heady mix of roots music through the haunting drone of his unusual-to-the blues instrument and the more expected blues harp. Harper’s latest CD, “Show Your Love,” features 11 original road-tested tracks recorded with his well-traveled Detroit-based touring band Midwest Kind.
Harper possesses a strong, resonant voice, another ingredient in his World Blues stew of ‘50s rhythm and blues; a ‘60s message of love and unity; and ‘70s funky soul.
