A Final Word On Car Seat Safety - Proper Disposal
When it's time to dispose of your current car seat, it's important to consider how it's done.
If you are getting rid of a car seat because of possible contamination, expiration, or doubts about it's structural integrity due to an accident or damaged or missing parts; you should destroy it first--to dissuade future use by an unsuspecting party.
Remove and destroy the straps and seat cover and clearly mark the shell as "Unsafe to Use" or "Trash" and bag it, before pitching it to the curb.
Never consign an unsafe car seat, or donate it.
By taking these steps, you can help prevent unsafe car seats from finding their way into other cars, and do your part to ensure "childhood passenger safety" within your community!
